Where Image Abides

by Mary Elizabeth Kibler

ISBN-13-9880770074082

Where Image Abides was an entirely huge surprise ... more like a gift from the Muses.

Where Image Abides is the black and white edition of the Corpus Omphalos, Poetry and Art Collecdtion 2012. Once I held the Corpus Omphalos galley in my hands, I knew right then and there that I would also publish a grayscale conversion version, if you will, of the art work and fell in love with Where Image Abides.

The title is from a poem, May We Dream, and also a photo-graphic digital art work, this book's front cover art, of the abandoned Beverly Bridge in central Washington; an attractive nuscance for such as myself.  Climbed up on the old train trestle, snow flurries drifting across the bridge, immense rush of the Columbia River below, sloggy skies suddenly filling with caw and cackle as dark flutters gathered at the other end of the expanse.  A murder of crows. It was unmistakable they were holding council. There've been other times the oddest circumstance, unusual creature or peculiar surface, a sprint of light or shapely shadow, appear without invitation as I review such days and nights and all the inbetween limen caves of experiences quite unplanned and, so, unfold as they will. These. These are the gems. These are the songs. And words with innate meanings of the universal kind. These are the poems and works of graphic art selected for collection like a Go master picks up white shells on a beach to keep.       Read more ...

Musician's Workbench: The Backroom Charting Method

and Other Poetry and Art Books and Collections

MUSICIAN'S WORKBENCH:  The Backroom Charting Method. This handy music theory handbook has been everywhere. I've met so many musicians who know of this book, have seen it, used it, know someone who does ... the stories are just amazing to me. This book has been copied in part and whole, xeroxed, scanned and printed out, duplicated and passed around ... the epitome of what can happen to an innocent effort to share information and throw in a few tricks of the trade and of my own musings ... the epitome of an underground book... doing what it was written for.  Phoenix home studio afterhours, copies on a table at a Tucson sound room, found in a truck's glovebox while hitchiking in Kentucky, in a motorcycle bag at a truckstop in Vermont, in a recording studio in Atlanta, free handouts at a music store in Seattle, a garage band's dive in Denver, on a friend's coffee table in Berlin, in a ski lounge in the Swiss Alps, on a bookshelf, on a deck ... the stories of this book, which I expressly wrote for guitarists, are beyond charming.    Read more ...
